Well... Hello to all you lovely people, it’s time for a little update on Stitch'n'Shenanigans adventures. I was lucky enough to be invited by Johnathon Chiswell Jones and Kerry Bosworth of JCJ pottery last weekend to their Six Sussex Artists and Craftsmen Show at the English Wine Centre situated on the approach to the stunning village of Alfriston.
We arrived Friday dinnertime to set up and meet the other craftspeople, Kevin Huston, Louise Bell, Caroline Brook and Rosemary Jeanneret who were also displaying at the event. We set about building the stand, whereupon there was this awful' feeling of "what have I forgotten to pack" moment ..... Oooopsy!!!! Hubby was pulling everything out of the setup box and muttering quietly to himself that he was sure he had packed the connecting bolts to hold the stand together, but alas they were nowhere to be found. With a little Googling we located a well known hardware stockist just a few miles down the road ..... disaster averted!! Three quarters of an hour later we returned with the necessary bolts to finish the build much to our relief..........
As 3 o’clock arrived we greeted the first of the invited guests to the private viewing which was the start to a very busy and enjoyable weekend with lots of lovely new friends being made as well as existing friends returning to say Hello ..... Thankfully Reggie was on his best behaviour, putting in his final appearance as he had been adopted the previous day by Elaine who kindly allowed him to come to the show to say his "Goodbyes" to everyone. Reggie will be living with Darcy Mouse, Mrs Miggins and various other Stitch'nShenanigans characters. Elaine has been suitably briefed on his foibles and has declared her undivided attention in trying to make him see the error of his ways and "straighten him out".
It was also a happy time for Rosie his long suffering and now happily single lady friend who is now residing on the sofa with her new guardian, Alison who proclaimed that "love would never tear them apart". As soon as she laid her eyes upon her the chemistry was tangible. Rosie went in for the cuddle, and the rest as they say....... was history!!!!!
This was also the inaugural outing of the Christmas mice who after much work in the Stitch'n'Shenanigans workshops built themselves a sleigh and took up residence in it much to the delight of the visitors,
We did also wave Farewell to little Myrtle Mouse who is spending Christmas with Kerry and her family. Harriet Hare also found her forever home on Sunday with a lovely lady who adored her.
This weekend was also the first outing for Dowager and The Duch(ess) two Dachshunds, who arrived just in time after popping out to the bar for a quick Schooner of Sherry (or two), the two 'ladies' finally extricated themselves to take up residence on the stand before falling into a snoring sleep for the remainder of the show.
All too soon it was time to take everything down and leave the Wine Centre as we had found it before heading off to Stitch'n'Shenanigans HQ for C A K E ........( Even after eating Kerry's Mums' cake all weekend) before packing all the little ones off to bed.
Before we go ... 'Just one last thing' (as Columbo would say), a lovely picture was sent to me by Donna who adopted Gwendoline Mouse at The Sussex Guild Show at The De La Warr Pavillion. She has settled into her new home and has taken to riding her new pony throughout the house.
